“I Needed to Be
Loved”: Jenny McCarthy
Admits She Was
Rejected to Be 'The
Bachelorette'

Sheesh, 2005 was a pretty tough year for Jenny McCarthy.

Along with her son, Evan, being diagnosed with autism and going through a divorce with John Asher, the blonde beauty also revealed she was rejected from ABC’s The Bachelorette!

Barbara Walters revealed the secret on Tuesday’s (Jan. 14) episode of the The View, when she pointed to her 41-year-old co-host and said, “you tried out to be a Bachelorette and you did not make it!”

“No one knew that!” Jenny confessed. “When I got a divorce, I was lonely. I needed to be loved.”

But the Playboy model admits it wasn’t her brightest idea.

“I did this show called Singled Out on MTV back in the day so I thought it would be great because I was single and I love TV.

“Put those together and I thought, ‘Brilliant!’”

At the time, it was all she really wanted – and she even had her agent call the network to give her an edge on the other girls!

“They said, ‘No, we’re not using celebrities at this time. Sorry,’” she recalled. “That was 10 years ago. So, pfft.”

Though Jenny didn’t get her wish, she did find love again.

In December 2005, she began secretly dating actor Jim Carrey.

They finally made their relationship public in June 2006 and went on to date him for five years, before splitting in April 2010.

The talk show host has since moved on with Donnie Walhberg, whom she’s been dating for six months.
