Anna Nicole Smith's former lawyer and partner, Howard K. Stern has filed a $60 million libel suit against Rita Cosby and the Hachette Book Group for her book, Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith's Death. Howard wants $10 million for compensatory damages and $50 million for punitive damages, according to celebtv.com. The suit charges that the book falsely accuses Howard of criminal lewd acts, homosexual acts, illegal possession and use of cocaine, conspiring to commit murder and kidnapping for ransom. The book says that Howard and Larry Birkhead were lovers — and that there is a videotape of their alleged tryst — and claims that the pair worked together after Anna Nicole's death to manipulate the media and maximize profits. According to his lawyer, Lin Wood, Rita Cosby and her publisher "made a conscious decision to smear the personal and professional reputation of my client, Howard K. Stern, by publishing vicious lies about him."
