It’s clear that this year’s Oscar fashion was all about glamour, and — thank goodness — hairstyles were sedate and polished with a relaxed feel to boot. But best hair definitely went to Jennifer Garner. Thanks to stylist Adir Abergel, her hair transformed from a plain, straight playground-mom fashion into a romantic, Edwardian-inspired look with a modern bang. “I knew that her hair had to reflect the differences in texture between the top and bottom portions of her [Oscar de la Renta] dress," says Abergel. He blew out her hair, giving it a strong side-art, then pin-curled the entire head using a 1" FHI Heat curling iron. After the hair cooled, he opened up the curls in front and back, hand-raked the hair, smoothed out the front area with a brush, then swept it dramatically forward, leaving the back portion pinned up and curly. "The back part of her head is the textured portion, while the front part is the refined portion," he says. And as far as color, Jen didn’t need any help: Tracey Cunningham — the Redken creative consultant for color who did Jen’s tresses — decided to keep her hair the same hue and just enhance it for the evening with a gloss for intensified shine.
