From leather to cut-outs, it was evident at last night’s Billboard Music Awards that there was one style trend that trumped all others— black.

While Hollywood starlets like Hayden Panettiere, Jennifer Morrison and Emmy Rossum donned the dark hue, some of music’s heavy hitters like Kesha, Madonna and Carly Rae Jepsen also showed up in the slimming color— and those are just the females!

Wearing head-to-toe black, Madonna took home the award for Best Touring Artist. At 54-years-old, Madge showed off her toned bod in edgy thigh high stockings with garters, fishnet draping, and a black leotard all under a furry black jacket.

And then there were leading ladies like Hayden and Emmy —both award presenters— who opted for a more elegant look.

The Nashville actress wore a floor-length black Halston Heritage with simple jewelry and a gold clutch, while the Shameless star showed off her fit figure in a see-through Zuhair Murad gown.

Combining black’s classic elegance and funky edge, Once Upon a Time's Jennifer gave fans a glimpse at her goods in a see-through Kristian Aadvenik dress. With a corset bodice, the star bared her upper torso and showed off her great gams through a sheer skirt.

As for the men, Cee Lo Green, Justin Bieber, Wiz Khalifa and several others took the stage in the dark hue.
