Flip or Flop fans were stunned when Tarek El Moussa and Christina El Moussa announced their plans to separate last month — and now a new report claims that Tarek has filed for divorce from his wife after seven years of marriage.

Tarek's lawyer confirmed the news to People on Monday.

The former couple — who share children Taylor, 6, and Brayden, 1 — released a statement when they first announced their split.

“Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage. We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed,” they said. "[We] will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together."

In Touch exclusively obtained court docs detailing the "unfortunate misunderstanding," which took place in May — when police arrived at their home and responded to "a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun."

"At the scene, Deputy Sandoval made contact with a witness, Gary Anderson, who relayed that he was working at the house next door when he saw Tarek El Moussa run out of his back door, jump over his back fence and walk northbound into the hiking tails of the Chino Hills State Park. Then the informant, Christina El Moussa, came running to the residence and she was crying and shaking. She told him Tarek took a handgun, put it in his backpack and ran outside. She said she already called 911," they explained.

"Deputies then spoke with the informant, Christina El Moussa, who related that she received a call from her friend at about 3:30 p.m. The friend was in Christina’s bedroom and saw Tarek take a handgun from the gun safe, place it in his backpack and leave the room. She asked him what he was doing but he did not answer. Christina stated that Tarek did not make any threatening statements to her and he did not make any comments about hurting himself or anyone else. She also denied that Tarek had ever been suicidal."

Christina has since moved on from their split with Gary. Meanwhile, In Touch previously revealed that HGTV is "livid" with the TV stars for splitting.

"Flip or Flop just won’t be the same if they’re not together, so execs desperately want them to reunite to save the show. If they can’t do that, the network wants to make it seem like they’re getting along, at least until their contract is over. They were given an ultimatum: Either finish out your contracts or we’ll take you to court [for breach of contract]. The network basically said, ‘You guys need to work together, be seen together as a family, walk down the street together.’”
