Congrats, man! Farrah Abraham’s father, Michael Abraham, got engaged to girlfriend Amy during a recent family trip to Capri, Italy, which was documented for his famous daughter’s show Teen Mom OG. The reality TV dad spoke exclusively with In Touch about the proposal — and claimed that it will top any other engagement ever filmed for the long-running MTV docuseries.
"Let me put it this way — it will be the most epic proposal ever done on Teen Mom, seriously," Michael exclusively told In Touch, adding we will "probably" get to see the moment play out on the reality show. "She was highly surprised," he continued, admitting that they both cried.
Asked about the ring he gave to Amy, Michael told us that he kept it simple. "We're not really that fancy folks, we're kind of down home folks,” he explained. “Just a really pretty setting with a lot of baguettes and different color golds and a nice big stone.”

So what does Farrah think about her dad’s upcoming nuptials? Though she most definitely doesn’t approve of her mother Debra Danielsen’s fiancé, Dr. David Merz, Michael told In Touch that the 16 and Pregnant alum is cool with Amy — and even helped him pull off the proposal. “Farrah was well-aware of it,” he said. “You know how it is in TV Land, we have to watch what we say — but she knew about the proposal and the engagement and she was very much involved."
Indeed, Farrah is absolutely thrilled for her dad. “I’m of course so happy my dad included [my daughter] Sophia and me in his proposal, so we felt included and welcoming to my future stepmom Amy!” she exclusively told In Touch. “Congrats to them both. I wish them a long-lasting, wonderful relationship. I'm happy I get along great with Amy and her family. It’s great!”
Though we will most likely get to see the proposal go down on a future episode of TMOG, Michael told In Touch that he isn’t so keen on having a TV wedding. "She's 53 and I'm 60, I guess there's life after 50. We know it's probably going to be private and it will be phenomenal, just like the proposal was," he said, adding that we "probably won't" see the wedding on the show. "It just depends, the proposal is one thing because it was, like I told you, probably the most epic proposal anyone has seen on TV in a long time.”
For her part, Debra — whose own wedding to Dr. David is set to take place in November — is happy for her ex-husband. “It was a surprise because I didn't know it was happening. I am very happy for both Michael and Amy to be blessed with their happy, loving relationship,” he exclusively told In Touch. “It was wonderful to share this as a family, so our blended family can be positive and healthy. It's good for Farrah and Sophia that we all get along.”
