After a two-year break from whipping contestants into shape on NBC’s The Biggest Loser, Jillian Michaels is back — only this time as a mom to daughter Lukensia, 2, and 8-month-old son, Phoenix.
In an exclusive sit-down interview with the new issue of In Touch, on newsstands now, Jillian shares how motherhood has changed her body, goals and priorities.
“You learn real quick what matters and what doesn’t. It used to be easy for me to work out, but I don’t have as much time now,” the fitness guru tells In Touch. “I can’t do my 90-minute yoga sessions anymore, so now I cycle in the morning for 30 minutes.”
After battling with her weight in the past, Jillian explains how important it is for her to share healthy habits with her kids. “I’m teaching them early about healthy food and getting them involved with our meals — they’ll be in our backyard garden, hitting the farmers market with us, cooking dinners. We’ll get them doing activities they love, so fitness is fun.”
And although she’s altered her workouts to fit her new lifestyle, don’t expect this new mom’s no-nonsense approach to losing weight change for this season’s The Biggest Loser contestants.
“[Motherhood]'s made me more no-nonsense!" she admits. "I won’t let people get away with things I might have before. I’m away from my family, so you’d better be prepared to work!”
