According to an insider, the two fight over everything — including Ellen’s drinking habits and controlling tendencies.

“They’ve had heated debates about Ellen’s controlling behavior,” the insider explains.

Ellen doesn’t want Portia to work — but the 43-year-old has grown increasingly frustrated with her role as “trophy wife.”

While the two have been on the outs before, this time — it’s really over, the insider says.

“[They] always seem to be on the verge of a breakup over one crisis or another,” the insider tells In Touch. “But now a divorce is imminent.”

There’s a lot at stake — with the insider speculating, “This could be one of Hollywood’s most expensive, ugliest and dirtiest divorces ever.”

So what was the breaking point?

“It was two-fold,” the insider explains. “Ellen’s obsession with controlling Portia’s personal life and career, and then Ellen’s insistence on not starting a family. That’s the biggest hurdle they can’t seem to overcome — Portia wanted children and Ellen didn’t.”
