But before you sink your teeth into the latest news from the Duggars, there are some important facts you need to know about the reality TV family, who are quite conservative when it comes to relationships and marriage. The Duggars don't believe in dating — they court. Courting simply means "dating with the intent to marry." However, there are rules, which they explained during an episode of 19 and Counting.
They don't believe in kissing or hand-holding before marriage, and dates are always accompanied with a chaperone. Parents Jim Bob and Michelle are always highly involved in the courting process, sometimes even participating in group texts between the two lovebirds.
“It’s neat to see their conversations," Jim Bob said about being included in his kids' text conversations. "Don't be afraid to get involved in your kids' relationships."
“The girls have always said they would send any guy who was interested in them to Dad," Michelle said. "That’s a good thing – that is such good protection for them.”

But what happens when a courtship fails? According to Jim Bob and Michelle, half of courtships don't turn into marriages — and that's OK.
“There is no failed courtship,” said Michelle. “A parent that loves and cares for their children, they want the best relationship for their child. It’s fun to be involved in the whole process in choosing it.”

Relationship Status: Single
Although she's the oldest daughter, Jana is still single — a fact that has prompted fans to call her the "Cinderella" of the family. Rumors started spreading that she was being courted by Lawson Bates, but those rumors were shot down by Lawson's mother.
Fans have jumped to some pretty wild speculations for why the oldest Duggar daughter hasn't been lucky in love, from accusations of lesbianism to even conspiracy theories about being "held prisoner" by her family. But the real truth? She just hasn't met the right guy yet.
“There have been different guys who have come along and asked, but they haven’t been, I don’t know, the right one,” she revealed on an episode of Jill and Jessa: Counting On. "It’s like this weird in-between stage. I’m not a younger one, but I’m not an older, married one with kids.”
