The world renowned gastroenterologist who performed Joan Rivers' endoscopy has been fired by the clinic's board, a new report states.
Dr. Lawrence Cohen has stepped down from his position as medical director at Yorkville Endoscopy after the board asked him to do so, the source said. The board, however, is not placing direct blame on Cohen for the comedienne's untimely death.

The board instead claims their issue with Cohen's actions is that he allowed Joan's ENT doctor to step in and perform an unauthorized biopsy during the endoscopy. It was during this procedure that the Fashion Police star went into respiratory and cardiac arrest, the report says.
Cohen has reportedly been on administrative leave from Yorkville Endoscopy, of which he is also a co-owner, since Joan's surgery on August 28.
