Well, not really.
Diddy surprised many fans when he tweeted news that he’s now a series regular on the hit PBS show Downton Abbey on Wednesday. Deeming it his “favorite show” — it all seemed a little peculiar.
MY BIG NEWS: So happy to announce that Im a series regular on DOWNTON ABBEY-my favorite show+i'll be debuting a sneak peek tonight 12am PST!— Diddy (@iamdiddy) May 15, 2013
But producers did just recently announce that they’re trying to diversify the series — and Diddy has had some serious roles, including Lawrence Musgrove in the Oscar-winning flick Monster’s Ball.
Turns out it was all a joke! After PBS and Masterpiece denied the rumor, Diddy shared a new video for Funny or Die, where he inserted himself into the show.
The 43-year-old chart topper plays Lord Wilcott, Downton's “first black character."
“Yes, I am an Abbeyhead — proudly!” he enthusiastically shares in the beginning of the video, joking that he’s been the “first black character” since the very beginning.
From there, his interactions with the cast are priceless.
