She’s the woman!

Talk show host Diana Madison recently made history with a one-on-one interview with the one and only Amanda Bynes. It was the first time Amanda spoke to the press in a sit-down interview in five years. Earlier this week, In Touch caught up with Diana at the Rough Night premiere in New York City to get the behind-the-scenes scoop on Amanda and if she really thinks she can make a comeback.

“You know it’s so interesting because when she said that [she wanted to return to acting] I had goosebumps,” Diana exclusively told In Touch. “This is Amanda and she’s back. She’s so passionate and she’s really young and she has her whole career ahead of her. Even though she’s been acting for such a long time, she’s still young she could make it happen and she’s ready to make it happen.”

The interview with Amanda was noticeably light-hearted considering the actress’ major run-ins with the law in the past and history of mental illness. Viewers were quick to accuse Diana of taking it easy on the star, but she insisted that was the plan all along.

“She wanted to make it light and fun. She didn’t want to get too serious and in the next three months, we’re going to be sitting down and doing a serious interview,” she explained. “I’ve known her for a couple of years. I’ve seen her progress and when I saw her off-camera she seemed happy and healthy and on-camera she was the same. She was just really excited to talk about how she wants to get back into acting.”

Loyal Amanda fans aren’t happy that they’ll have to wait additional time to get the story about what really happened after she retired from acting, but Diana assures fans that she will ask the hard-hitting questions in their second interview.

“It’s crazy, I’m getting all these death threats from people saying ‘Why didn’t you ask her serious questions?’ but I had to go with Amanda’s flow and what she wanted to do at the time,” she continued. “I do want to talk about first of all how she got better. I know it’s a struggle that she deals with on a daily basis, so I would want to go more deep into that. And I want to know what she was thinking when all that was going down or was she thinking.”

We can’t wait to see their next interview!
