Demi Lovato will be doing double duty on TV this season! The X Factor judge has just announced that she'll be joining the cast of Glee for at least six episodes this season. Her character will be named Dani and will be a friend of Rachel Berry, the character played by Lea Michele.
The fifth season of Glee premieres on September 26. The season's start date was delayed when star Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson, died suddenly of a drug and alcohol overdose while staying at a hotel in Vancouver, Canada. Cory and Lea were a couple in real life as well as on the show. The show's writers had to scramble to rewrite storylines for the season, which featured Cory heavily.
The show will kill off his character rather than recast, and various cast members have reportedly filmed PSAs about addiction. Demi has been outspoken about her own struggles with an eating disorder and with self-mutilation, and she often acts as a role model to young women struggling with self-esteem issues.
20-year-old Demi won't be the only famous face appearing on the hit FOX show this season. American Idol alum Adam Lambert will also be on the show, although he hasn't said who he will play or how many episodes he'll appear in. Does this mean the two celebs will be singing a duet together?
