David Bowie has sadly passed away at the age of 69, a statement on his official Facebook page confirmed late Sunday night following the Golden Globes.
"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer," the post read. "While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief."

The "Starman" singer's son Duncan also took to Twitter to share the news:

David is survived by Duncan, his child from his first marriage to Angela Bowie, current wife Iman and their daughter Alexandria "Lexi" Zahra Jones.
The Grammy nominee's latest album was just released on Jan. 8, his birthday. During his career spanning more than 40 years, he recorded a total of 25 records.

He also found success as an actor, appearing in The Man Who Fell to Earth and Labyrinth as well as playing the lead in The Elephant Man on Broadway in the 1980s.
