It was revealed on Thursday that Dave Mirra — a well-known BMX champ and host of MTV's The Challenge — died of an apparent suicide. He was 41-years-old.

TMZ reports Dave was found in his truck in North Carolina with a visible gunshot wound to the head, which was seemingly self-inflicted. He was allegedly in town to catch up with friends and his death is currently under police investigation.
Dave is survived by his wife, Lauren, and their two daughters, Madison and Mackenzie. He left Lauren a special message via Instagram shortly before his passing.

Fellow Challenge host T.J. Lavin shared his grief with TMZ, saying, "I just wish he would have called me. I would have jumped on a plane in a second. There's always another way. If anyone needs help, just please get it. I feel sick about this."
