Cory Monteith's death at just 31-years-old has devastated the cast and crew of Glee.
"It is quite a shock to all of us," Glee singer, songwriter and producer Derik Nelson tells In Touch. "He was always so kind to me on set. We had some wonderful discussions about music, acting, and careers in entertainment. He worked harder than anyone and always made it a point to treat everyone involved in the show with kindness and respect."
Cory was found dead at Vancouver's Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel on Saturday after hotel staff went to check on his room when he missed his check out time. He had a longtime battle with substance addiction and completed his second stint in rehab for two months ago. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
"He will be dearly missed by our Glee family, and we are all still in shock and disbelief that he is really gone," Derik adds. "My heart goes out to his family, to Lea [Michele], and to the entire Glee community for such a devastating and tragic loss."
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cory's family and friends.
