Cory Monteith’s body was cremated on Tuesday in Vancouver, according to a new TMZ report.
The outlet says before the cremation, a small private viewing was held with his family and girlfriend and Glee costar, Lea Michele. TMZ is also reporting that his father, Joe Monteith, wasn’t invited and he’s “totally devastated” over it.
Cory’s body was reportedly released yesterday to his mother, Ann. She decided to hold the viewing at the hospital with Lea and Cory’s brother, Shaun. After that, Ann had her deceased son cremated. It was revealed that a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol claimed the Glee star’s life.
“I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very, very much,” Joe tells TMZ. “I’m saddened at the fact that I couldn’t have been there to see my son before he was cremated.”
When TMZ asked Joe about Cory’s alleged heroin use, he said he was “shocked.”
The 31-year-old was found dead in his room at Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel around noon on July 13. He had just finished his second stint in rehab for an unspecified substance abuse addiction in late April and was due to begin filming the fifth season of Glee soon.
