More than a year after proudly announcing to fans that he is a homosexual, Clay Aiken is speaking out about gay rights in his hometown of Raleigh, N.C. The American Idol alum will address the issue at the Human Rights Campaign Carolinas gala with his self-written speech. "My goal is to be
hopeful, that it's time for everyone to have equal rights. It's more
important to me, as a parent, that my son have all the rights — if he's gay
— than it is for me," he says. Clay, who came out publicly in September
2008, is a father to 18-month-old Parker. The tot was conceived via in vitro
fertilization with Clay's longtime friend, music producer Jaymes Foster.
