Chris Pratt may have a swoon-worthy body, but as Parks and Rec fans know, that wasn’t always the case!
The 35-year-old hunk recently opened up about the lows he hit in his personal life when his weight hit an all-time high of 300 pounds.

“I was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed. I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way,” the father-of-one tells Men’s Health UK.
“It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.”

While his weight fluctuated based on roles, he says he maintained his heavy physique because he thought it was part of his appeal as the actor.
“I saw myself in an episode [of Parks and Rec] and in the matter of two moments very close together, I thought, ‘Oh my god, I’m getting fat,’” he explains.
“And then almost immediately I did something else and I thought, ‘Holy crap, I’ve never seen myself funnier.’ And I put the two together.”

He blames his weight gain partially on a running gag on set — he says, “I announced it to the whole cast, and then it became a bit of a game: How fat can I get and how fast?” — and partially on his wife, Anna Faris.
“I put on weight because I’d fallen in love with a woman who loved to feed her man,” he explains.
“We were drinking a lot of wine and having fun. I was like her little Hansel out in the woods and she was fattening me up to put me in a fire. It was like Momma Bear and Papa Bear. She would eat a little bit, I would eat all of mine and the rest of hers.”

Shortly after Chris bulked up for Zero Dark Thirty — see the smoldering pic at the top — Anna joked that she was going to fatten him up again!
“Don’t worry I’m gonna pad him back up,” she said in September 2013.
“You know, we both love lifestyle — eating and drinking — so much. I love cooking for him, so — you know, somewhere in between maybe.”
Well, we think it’s awesome they’ve found a way to be happy AND healthy!
