Chris Brown avoided jail time by reaching a plea bargain in the assault case against his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. He pleaded guilty to felony assault by means likely to cause great bodily injury. According to the terms, he is ordered to five years probation and 180 days of community labor in Virginia. He was also ordered to stay 50 yards away from Rihanna at all times; if they’re at the same industry event, it’s just 10 yards. Although no jail time is a victory for Chris, an onlooker tells In Touch that the mood in court on June 22 was still very somber. “Chris sat very quietly and did not crack a smile once. He just nodded when his attorney talked to him.” Because of the plea, Rihanna did not have to take the stand.
