The Boston marathon was interrupted by a series of explosions on Monday.

The bombs were set off right at the finish line, four hours after the initial start time. About an hour after the first two blasts, a third explosion was heard just before 4 p.m.

New Kids on the Block star and Massachusetts native, Joey McIntyre, was actually running in the race and finished just five minutes before it happened.

“I’m ok but I’m sure there are many hurt,” Joey wrote. Co-member, Donnie Wahlberg, was relieved to hear the news, “Just heard that @joeymcintyre is ok! Thanks to everyone for tweeting! Scared for everyone else in Boston. #PrayerForBoston please."

Celebrities, including, Channing Tatum and Nicki Minaj, took to Twitter to share their grief and sorrow over the horrible tragedy. “#prayforboston,” said the Side Effects star.

The pop star and American Idol judge shared her thoughts as well, “My heart goes out to everyone who woke up this morning to enjoy a peaceful marathon but were met w/senseless destruction #GodBlessAmerica.
