Chad Johnson and Basketball Wives' Evelyn Lozada had a flashy wedding on the Fourth of July, and now their personal fireworks are bringing the marriage to a speedy end. Evelyn has filed for divorce from the football star, aka Chad Ochocinco.

The couple got into an altercation in the driveway of their Florida home on August 11, after she found a receipt for a box of condoms. As things heated up, the wide receiver allegedly head-butted his new wife and sent her screaming to the neighbors for help. He was arrested on a domestic abuse charge. An officer on the scene said he saw a 3-inch cut on her forehead.

News that they were divorcing after just 41 days of marriage came after Evelyn issued this statement: "It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday. I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I'm grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time."

Chad, in turn, issues his own statement: "I wish Evelyn nothing but the best, I have no negative words to say about her, the only thing I can say is I love her very much."

To say it’s been a bad week for the football star is an understatement. In addition to the divorce, VH1 cancelled the reality show he and Evelyn were filming. The wedding was supposed to be the finale of the show, which was set to air on Sept. 3. Chad also lost his job with the Miami Dolphins — his firing embarrassingly caught on camera for the HBO show Hard Knocks.
