With stars seemingly dropping the baby weight before they even leave the hospital with their newborn — we're looking at you, Victoria Beckham — it's understandable why celebrity trainer Kim Lyons (kimlyons.com) thought getting back to her pre-baby body would be a cinch. But to her surprise, slimming down after the arrival of her son Jack, now 17 months, wasn't easy. "I gained 46 pounds," she reveals to In Touch. While she was elated when her baby boy arrived, she wasn't a fan of the extra weight. "My stomach was gross. Looking at my body when I got into the shower was heartbreaking," Kim, 38, reveals. "Everyone said the weight would come off if I breast-fed, but that didn't work for me at all."
So Kim started doing 20-minute bursts of cardio and resistant-band work in her home while her son was napping. "I was too self-conscious to go to the gym," she admits. It took Kim six months to feel like herself again and accept her new shape. "I appreciate my body more now than I did before I got pregnant," says Kim. Overall, she feels the secret to her success is staying focused and balanced with her exercise and diet. In fact, she just came out with Your Body, Your Life nutrition bars to help busy moms stay on track and satisfied.
