The National Basketball Association has spoken—and the organization has taken action against Donald Sterling, the racist owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, by not only giving him a $2.5 million fine, but also banning him permanently from the NBA.

The shocking decision comes after TMZ published an audio recording of the millionaire blasting his girlfriend for posting a picture of her and basketball legend Magic Johnson on her Instagram.

“It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people,” the 80-year-old can be heard saying in the clip, which he has confirmed is him. “Don’t put [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don’t bring him to my games.”

Before the NBA officially made their statement and took action against the businessman, the Clippers made their own statement known—by wearing their warm-up shirts inside out (and thus hiding the logo) before their game against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.

Many sponsors took a stance as well—with car dealership CarMax and airline Virgin Airlines ending their sponsorships with the NBA team.

Of course, many celebrities also spoke out—not only to express their outrage at Sterling’s shocking and offensive comments, but also to praise the new NBA commissioner Adam Silver on taking action against the hateful words.

Check out what they have to say.
