A week after an ex-employee filed a lawsuit against Al Manzo, the Real Housewives husband is firing back. Al, who is married to Real Housewives of New Jersey star Caroline Manzo, is facing claims that his event space, The Brownstone, was a bad place to work and that he and his brother Tommy Manzo, who co-own the space, made racial slurs against their workers.
"I’m appalled by the accusations," Al said in a statement. He claims that the employee, Lanise Jackson, was "lazy" and "subpar." Ouch! And that's not all - he's also planning to sue her right back. The father of three, whose family is being featured in a RHONJ spinoff called Manzo'd With Children, will be countersuing Jackson for slander.
In the lawsuit, which was filed earlier this month, Lanise claimed that The Brownstone was dirty and infested with bugs. She also says that Al and Tommy, who is in the process of a divorce from Caroline's sister and fellow Real Housewives star Dina Manzo, said "all kinds of racial stuff" when they were yelling at employees.
It's not yet known whether the lawsuit will affect Manzo'd With Children, which is filming its first episode now but hasn't been picked up for a full season yet. The show is supposed to revolve around the family and The Brownstone and will feature daughter Lauren Manzo's wedding.
