Dancing With the Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet announced yesterday that she's been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
The 41-year-old mother of four took to YouTube to reveal the news to her fans in a video she titled "Cancer. Me?"
“I need to have a thyroidectomy, which means that I’m going to have a nice big scar right here across my neck,” she announced in a video. “I never ever ever thought I was going to get that phone call with bad news.”
The surgery will remove either all or part of her thyroid gland, and the star reveals, “I’m going to be a really good patient and I’m going to do everything that I need to do.”
Brooke claims she’s never felt better and she’s ready to tackle the “out-of-control situation” that kills about 1,800 Americans annually.
“Doctors say this is a good kind of cancer to have,” she says in her video. “Good cancer — that sounds so crazy! But my doctor did tell me that this is a happily-ever-after kind of thing.”
The DWTS host has scheduled a date for her surgery, but it’s currently unknown to the public.
“I’m ready to deal with it, and I’m going to be fine,” the beauty strongly says. “I’m just going to make a positive out of this negative thing.”
