While everyone else is celebrating New Year's Eve, Britney Spears just might be celebrating her independence. The courts have ruled that Brit's dad Jamie Spears will have legal control over her affairs until December 31, with a case review set for October 28. "The extensions of the conservatorship was at the request and suggestion of Britney's doctors," says an insider. "They've indicated she's made great improvement, but it's a work in progress. Jamie Spears doesn't want the conservatorship to last a day longer than the doctors recommend." The restraining order against Brit's former friend/manager, Sam Lutfi, has also been lifted since the singer is no longer speaking to him and because her father can control who she sees. "During the temporary conservatorship, the conservators have the power to insure that Lutfi will not harm Britney anymore," Brit's attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, told the Associated Press.
