Brandi Glanville has never been one to shy away from controversy.
And this time her behavior has not only landed her in hot water, but cost her a lucrative hosting gig at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida on Saturday.
After a shocking remark she made towards one of her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills castmates, the Bravo TV star was forced to insist she is not racist and the comment was not meant to offend.
On the Dec. 9 show, the housewives were at a pool party and Brandi, who appeared to be intoxicated, blurted out to newcomer Joyce Giraud when she revealed she couldn’t swim, “You’re black!”
The castmates were stunned into silence until Joyce fired back, “Yes, I’m black. What’s your problem?
“Puerto Ricans are black, they’re Indian and they’re Spanish. So I am a mix of three cultures and I’m very proud to represent all three.”
On Saturday, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa announced it had dropped Brandi from a party that night where the resort unveiled a calendar featuring its employees.
President John Fontana released a statement saying: “As a company who prides itself on its core values of ‘Love All, Serve All,’ SHRHC has decided to proceed with the planned party without Ms. Glanville’s appearance due to recent developments that include remarks towards African Americans made by Ms. Glanville on her hit Bravo TV show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
“Until this situation is behind her, our organization feels it’s best to reinforce our culture and values at this time, which consist of love and respect for all."
Brandi insists the comment was not meant as racist and tried to explain it by saying, “All my black friends cant swim.”
She said, “It was a joke and my black friends would've laughed like crazy, because they don't go in the pool because they will get their weave f**ked up.”
She had already arrived in Florida on Saturday when she found out she would not be hosting the event after all.
On Sunday she bizarrely tweeted, “I had a great time in Florida but sadly I didn’t make out with any1 although I am single and I could have - or get drunk -liars can f**k off.”
The 41-year-old later apologized on Watch What Happens Live! saying, “I know what I said was definitely inappropriate, but I say a lot of inappropriate things. I'm not racist, I'm just inappropriate 90% of the time!”
This is not the first time Brandi's drunken behavior has landed her in trouble, something Real Housewives of Miami star Joanna Krupa was quick to pick up on.
“I don’t know what her little brain thinks. I get it, it’s reality TV and it’s about ratings and maybe she feels that it’s her job, but she should learn the difference between being dramatic on TV and how to be sensitive,” she said.
“I just think she has an alcohol issue. When she says stupid things it tends to be after she’s had a drink. I don’t know if it’s for attention, but it fuels her to put people down. She really needs to understand that it’s only hurting her in the end. She’s not thinking.”
Let’s hope Brandi can keep herself in check in future. But after these comments from frenemy Joanna, it may not be long before she retaliates.
