Bradley Cooper’s mom wasn’t just his Oscars date— she’s also his roommate.

In a new interview with Details Magazine, the Silver Linings Playbook actor admits he’s been living with his mother, Gloria, since losing his dad to cancer in 2011.

"Let's face it: It's probably not easy for her to be living with her son,” Bradley tells the mag. “It's life. And right now, two years after my father's death, this is where we are."

Bradley, 38, goes on to explain how the death of his father is still taking its toll on his mom and him, mentioning that they still very much need each other to get through the grief.

"My family is very close, and my dad dying was brutal for all of us,” he says. “It was a schism, and its aftershock has not stopped. And we need each other. So here we are."

While the A-lister certainly has the dough to live on his own, we commend him for sticking with his mom through hard times. And the duo, who appear to be very close, are actually much closer than people think.

"It's not without complications. It's not like I live in a compound and she's in the guesthouse. No. She's in the next room,” he admits. “But here's the thing: She's a cool chick. We can hang, and she can roll with the punches. If that wasn't the case, there's no way."

Although the actor has dealt with his fair share of heartbreak with his own father, that hasn’t prevented Bradley from one day wanting kids of his own.

"I really hope I have that experience in my life," he said. "I saw how much joy fatherhood gave my own dad. So I hope it's part of my journey. You go through stages in your life, and fatherhood seems like a natural stage."
