Losing a family member is never easy, and on Monday, Nov. 13, Blake Shelton shared his heartbreaking story of losing his older brother, Richie, who was killed in a car accident at age 24, when Blake was just 14. “Lost my brother 27 years ago today. I was only 14 at the time but it changed my life forever…” Watch the video below to see what else he had to say.

The Voice judge credits his love of music to his late brother, and in an interview with the Associated Press in 2011, he said he inherited Richie’s vinyl record collection upon his death. “That’s one of the things I got when my brother was killed. The family gave me all his albums and things like that. I just listened to them over and over again to feel like he was there,” he recalled. Richie was a fan of 70s country rock music, and Blake added that “…he was listening to Hank Williams, Jr. or Waylon, Lynyrd Skynyrd or Bob Seeger.”

Recently, the 41-year-old has been making headlines because rumors are swirling that he’s expecting a baby with girlfriend Gwen Stefani, 48. On Oct. 31, Gwen stepped out in a skintight mermaid costume for Halloween and her famously flat tummy was gone. In its place: what appeared to be a baby bump! A source told In Touch exclusively, “The costume was very fitted, for sure, but it just looked like a baby bump to me,” said an eyewitness, who observed the 48-year-old mom trick-or-treating in LA with sons Zuma, 9, and Apollo, 3. “She’s very fit, so it really jumped out at me. It looked obvious.” Fingers crossed — these two would make the cutest parents together!
