If there's one woman in Hollywood who turns a blind eye to bad behavior— especially when it comes to her best friend— it's Chelsea Handler.

At the E! Upfront in NYC on April 22, Chelsea spoke out about her close friend Reese Witherspoon’s recent arrest.

“She’s doing fine. She’s doing fine, you know?” the Chelsea Lately host told Entertainment Tonight. "She was just trying to protect her husband. I mean everybody makes mistakes, so it's not a big deal.

Reese, 37, and her hubby Jim Toth, 42, found themselves in trouble with the law on Friday when they were pulled over in Atlanta. After the officer arrested Jim for a DUI, Reese got into a verbal altercation with the cop, resulting in her arrest for disorderly conduct. She has since apologized for the incident, saying, "I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said."

Two days after being briefly jailed, the pair made their first public appearance in NYC for the premiere of her movie Mud.

As for Chelsea, 38, she knows a thing or two about having a run in with the law. After being arrested for a DUI, a then 21-year-old Chelsea was forced to tell her story to a class of other offenders. Fortunately, the tale made her fellow classmates laugh which inspired her to become a stand-up comedian.
