Secret brothers? Scott Peterson and Drew Peterson are both convicted murderers — and their heinous crimes are making headlines again because two separate TV specials about the deaths of their wives have recently premiered.
A&E’s six-part special The Murder of Laci Peterson — which premiered on Tuesday, Aug. 15 — revisits the details of the case that captivated the nation 15 years ago, in which Scott was eventually sentenced to death for the murder of his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn child.

Likewise, Drew — who is serving a 38-year prison sentence for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio — has been in the news lately because of ID’s two-part special, Drew Peterson: An American Murder Mystery, which explores the former police sergeant’s involvement in the death of his fourth wife, Stacy, who went missing on Oct. 28, 2007.

Because of their shady pasts and identical last names, a lot of people can’t help but wonder if Scott and Drew are related. “OK I’m confused. Are Scott and Drew Peterson related? I mean both have killed their wives,” one Twitter user wrote, while another shared, “not sure if this is true but wouldn’t it make sense that drew and scott peterson are related? both murderers? it makes sense right?”
As of now, there is no known evidence showing that the two convicts are relatives. Still, it isn’t farfetched to think that Scott and Peter could share some of the same genes. Several true crime enthusiasts have noted the uncanny similarities between the men’s cases. “Scott Peterson and Drew Peterson's crimes were closely related,” one Twitter user recently remarked. “It’s so weird.”
Laci was eight months pregnant when she disappeared in late 2002. At the time, Scott claimed to have been on a fishing trip. A fetus found to have been 27-year-old Laci’s unborn son was discovered four months later, in April 2003. The next day, her dismembered torso was found. Kathleen was found dead in a dry bathtub three years prior to Stacy’s disappearance. Stacy is still considered a missing person. Her family has launched a website to help find her at SearchingForStacyPeterson.com.
