And the Royal Baby Has
a Name! Meet Prince
Meet Prince George!
After introducing their newborn son to the world yesterday out of St. Mary's Hospital in London, Prince William and Kate Middleton have announced a name for the child who is now third in line to the British throne: George Alexander Louis. According to a recent survey on Facebook, George was the top choice among people betting on the boy's name, with Alexander and Louis also falling in the top five.
Though it feels like forever between when news first broke about the royal baby's birth and when his name was announced, it's quite short compared to royal tradition. William's own parents, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, took a full week to decide on their elder son's name.
"He has her looks," a beaming William told crowds gathered outside the hospital yesterday. He and Kate wore coordinated light-blue outfits in honor of their little boy, then skipped a fancy limo and opted to drive their son home to Kensington Palace in a regular car. Tody, the royal couple reportedly took George to the town of Bucklebury to visit Kate's parents' home.
One thing's for sure - even though Prince George has a distinguished pedigree, his parents are determined to make his upbringing as normal as possible. The couple is considering not hiring nannies, as most royal families do, and William has already taken up the duty of changing diapers!
