Attention American Idol fans! If you can’t wait until season eight of the hit show — which premieres in January — this should tide you over. Catch some of your favorite American Idol alumni, and get in the holiday spirit, when Chikezie (Season 7), Diana DeGarmo (Season 3), David Hernandez (Season 7) and Kimberley Locke (Season 2) visit a city near you as part of the “American Stars in Concert for the Holidays” tour. The concert, running now through December 21, promises an exciting night of solo, duet and ensemble performances and is a great way to see and hear the Idols up close and personal.
“I just got off tour and am doing it again,” Chikeizie told In Touch when we caught up with the Idols during rehearsals in Los Angeles. “This is a smaller scale, though, and more intimate, so doing this show I will have a chance to make contact with the audience and have them walk away feeling it was for them.”
“I got excited to be going on the road again,” admits Kimberly Locke. “I also like the smaller venues and talking to the audience. This is personal. I love touring as you get direct contact with the fans."

Those sentiments are echoed by season 3 runner-up Diana DeGarmo. “I’m excited to be hitting the road,” she tells In Touch. “It’s similar to the Idol tour in that we have the group songs, but I get to do an original song I wrote called "Thank You" that I first did on my USO tour. It’s dedicated to the troops, who are doing such an amazing job for us all. That song means the most to me, just to let them all know they are not forgotten.” Other holiday favorites included in the show are "Oh, Holy Night," "Santa Baby" and Stevie Wonder's "Someday at Christmas," a personal favorite of Chikezie’s.
For Chikezie, the highlight of this tour is not only getting to work with two of his favorite past Idols (Diana and Kimberley), but with season 7 pal David Hernandez, who despite making the top 12, just missed out on making the top 10 and didn’t get to do the American Idol tour earlier this year. “It’s great to be working with my brother David,” says Chikezie. “He and I auditioned together. I was so looking forward to touring with him, but as he just missed out, not getting to tour with him was one of my biggest regrets. It’s come full circle now and it’s so cool how fate stepped in.”
“I just wanted to make the top 10 so I could tour,” adds David, who is also busy preparing for a headlining show in Scottsdale, Ariz., starting in the new year. “My show there runs three nights a week at a club called Barcelona Scottsdale through March 28. This will be my first tour and will be great practice. I’m really excited and a little nervous, but I have three great mentors on the tour, so I am in good hands.”
“It’s going to be the perfect date-night show and one for the family, too,” says Diana of the Christmas tour. “I can’t wait to stop off in Athens, Georgia, as a choir from my high school will be performing with us — and that’s just awesome.”
