Why doesn’t this surprise us? Just three months after ending her relationship with Matt Baier, Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood confirmed that she moved on with a new man, Andrew Glennon. And now, Radar has unearthed that — like most Teen Mom beaus — he has some skeletons in his closet.
Previously, it was reported that in April 2015, Andrew's ex successfully got a restraining order against him. She was forced to take their relationship to court, claiming that he harassed her via text, email, and phone calls and had a bad habit of showing up to her home and work. In 2010, he arrested for having an arsenal of weapons. Yet apparently, those aren't the only things on his rap sheet. In March 2014, he was arrested when he "did willfully and unlawfully drive a vehicle while being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage," court docs state.
He was charged with "driving a vehicle with 0.08 percent or more, by weight, of alcohol in his or her blood." His blood alcohol count was .09. As a result, Andrew was ordered to serve 96 hours in Los Angeles County Jail and pay $2,120 in fines and fees. He was also required to attend 20 alcoholic anonymous/narcotics anonymous meetings twice a week.
It’s clear that Amber is head-over-heels with her new man, whom she met while filming Marriage Boot Camp with her former fiancé. Ahead of the Video Music Awards — where the two made their red carpet debut — Amber admitted she was incredibly happy with her blossoming relationship.
"We’re going slow and we’re just trying to be smart about everything, which is good to find somebody on your level like that," she gushed. "I think we just kind of fell into this groove of really enjoying life with each other for a while, so it’s kind of fun and it’s kind of serious in a way as well, but we’re trying not to put too much pressure on a relationship."
Unfortunately, not everyone is thrilled with the pacing of their relationship. Take Amber’s baby daddy Gary Shirley, who recently told In Touch he was hoping his ex would take things slow — and that’s before we knew about the restraining order.
"I don’t know him [well] enough," he told In Touch exclusively. "I’m not saying she should’ve waited on him. I think she should’ve dated. I think the last time they talked — I don’t know what they’re doing — but I think he was trying to relocate or something. I think she should’ve stayed single longer and really gotten to know herself and get over someone before getting with someone else because that’s how you do it, man. The correct way. You don’t need someone to make you feel like you’re living."
And Andrew has confessed that his past has already taken a toll on his new relationship. He told Radar, "This is jeopardizing our relationship, which tears my heart. She is still processing. Right now everything is up in the air. Amber is such a beautiful soul, I love her so much, and I really feel like a total idiot for not bringing this up to her first, but it was such a difficult time in my life that I blocked it out of my mind."
