Amanda Bynes’ life is taking another Lindsay Lohan-style turn for the worse – the troubled star is facing up to six months in jail for violating her probation.
The 27-year-old, who was arrested in NYC on May 23 and charged with possession of marijuana, tampering with evidence and reckless endangerment, was already on three years’ probation in California after pleading no contest on May 9 to driving on a suspended license – and according to California lawyer Goldie Schon, that means trouble.
“It’s possible that Amanda has violated the terms of her probation,” Schon tells In Touch. “If the police determine that Amanda violated her probation, she could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.”
Amanda’s life has been spiraling out of control for the past year. In April 2012 she was arrested for DUI after she sideswiped a police car with her BMW while driving in West Hollywood. Claiming she was innocent, Amanda tweeted at President Obama asking him to fire the cop who arrested her. The DUI case against her is still pending.
After more alleged hit-and-runs her driver’s license was revoked, but Amanda continued to profess her innocence, insisting, “I don’t drink, and I don’t drink and drive. It is all false.”
She made a similar claim after being arrested in her NYC apartment on Thursday night, after allegedly throwing a bong out a window when police walked in. “I don’t drink or do drugs!” Amanda Tweeted just hours after she appeared in NYC criminal court. “I’ve never had a bong in my life!”
Amanda also claims she was sexually harassed by the arresting officers that night. The NYPD Internal Affairs unit is investigating her allegations, and Amanda is due back in court on July 9.
