For the 19th season of Dancing with the Stars, Emmy-nominated dancer and choreographer and new pro, Allison Holker is sharing the inside scoop with In Touch readers — everything from show highlights and behind the scenes secrets to her experience dancing with Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett!
The show is best described like a relationship. You are learning about someone else and your own self everyday, you are put to the test of finding the strengths, the connection, you are growing close in a short amount of time. There will be ups and downs, but it's how you handle yourself in those moments that matter.
I truly believe my partner and I did an incredible job — he had growth each and every week, with more than just his dancing but in himself as well. And we have built a strong friendship that will last beyond the show run.
But our strongest moments were in our final week — we shared a heart-to-heart moment that really helped us unite and come together as a team and then came out on the dance floor and did an incredible dance. He looked amazing and I'm so proud of that dance! It was such a pleasure to choreograph this number. I loved every second during that dance.
I learned a lot about myself as I'm going on this journey as well. I have had so much growth, and I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity. All things happen for a reason and this show brought back a fight in me and a special spark that I hope continues to flame. Thank you "Dancing With the Stars" for giving me an awesome opportunity! It was wonderful to be a part of something so great.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this experience with Dancing With the Stars. And I hope it's only the beginning!
A special thank you to my parents Dave and Nikki Holker, my husband Stephen Boss, my daughter Weslie and my hero Paula Abdul for coming out and always supporting me. I love you guys. And to all of my family, friends and fans — you guys mean the world to me, and I hope to make you always proud.
