Afrojack Dishes on His
G-Star and His Dream
of Working with Katy
It seems like ages ago when Nick van de Wall, most commonly known as Afrojack, released "Take Over Control" featuring Eva Simons— yes, we still have that stuck in our heads!
But now, four years later, this Dutch music producer and DJ is taking control of the music world — working with today's top artists including Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown and David Guetta.
He even earned himself the No. 9 spot in DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJs list.
With his debut album coming out next month and the second edition of G-Star RAW launching, we were interested in learning more about the 26-year-old DJ that gets the crowd pumped.
Check out our exclusive Q&A with Afrojack and find out who he's dying to work with next!
How did you originally got involved with G-Star RAW?
"My favorite jeans are the G-Star A-Crotch. So I approached G-Star to see if they could make me a leather version for my performances. That’s how a relationship began, and from there the first collaboration just happened – that was a super enjoyable experience, which made the second collection inevitable."
What new projects are you working on and where do you want to take your career?
"Well, I’m about to release my debut album which I think will be a concrete moment in my career that I’m really excited about. I’ve spent so much time perfecting each track to make it something that my fans can really be proud of and I am finally releasing it on May 19th.
The title, ‘Forget The World,’ is meant to remind everyone not to be pressured by anyone around them and to be themselves no matter what, so I hope that’s what people get from it."
What do you want to achieve career-wise that you have not already?
"At the moment my main focus is my album. I've put so much time into making it exactly what I want It to be, so to see it take off and be successful would be the biggest achievement of my career."
Are there any artists who you are dying to work with?
"Honestly there are so many talented artists that I want to work with, but my number one is always Katy Perry. I think she has such a vision and takes chances with her music, which is something I really respect."
