Glee has cast another top-notch performer for their upcoming season. It was announced yesterday that the show has signed American Idol alum Adam Lambert to the cast for their fifth season.
Yesterday, the show's executive producer Ryan Murphy revealed the exclusive news via Twitter.
I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall.— Ryan Murphy (@MrRPMurphy) July 11, 2013
Lea Michele was the first of the show’s cast members to give Adam a shout out via the social networking site.
Lea’s tweet poses an interesting question, though: Who is Adam going to play?!
Though no information has been released regarding Adam’s character, the creators of the show have a plenty of new directions to choose from.
Adam could virtually play anybody at this point. Ryan Murphy and Co. could cast him as a professor at NYADA, as Kurt’s (Chris Colfer) new love interest, as Sarah Jessica Parker’s character’s evil editor over at Vogue, he could assist Matthew Morrison’s character over at McKinley High School, or like Josh Groban, Adam could have a quick cameo playing himself. The options are endless!
With all of the news regarding Glee’s casting shakeups over the past few weeks, it’s nice to see the show bring a talented fan favorite onto the program. Adam will be the second Idol alum to join the cast. Jessica Sanchez, who was the runner-up in Idol's 11th season, had a two-episode arc last season.
Glee has had a killer track record of a-list guest stars in the past. Some big name celebs who have gotten their Gleek on include Neil Patrick Harris, Britney Spears, Nene Leakes, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lindsay Lohan, Katey Sagal, Kristen Chenoweth, and more!
