When Katina lost more than 100 pounds, she thought she’d finally be happy with her body. Little did she know it was only the beginning of her problems…

After having “apron surgery” to remove excess skin, Katina noticed her skin began to turn purple and black — and quickly learned that flesh-eating bacteria necrosis was responsible for her troubling physique she dubbed her “alien belly.”

Enter the doctors of Botched, who helped restore the mother-of-two’s stomach using plastic surgery — so she can finally be proud of body she worked so hard for.

Necrosis began to infect Katina’s belly post-surgery.

“I worked really hard losing that weight, I want my reward, I want to be able to put on a swimsuit and have everybody see all the hard work I put it in,” she explained on ‘Botched’ last night, April 21.

“I’m not looking for perfection, I’m just looking for normal.”

On the day of her surgery, Dr. Terry Dubrow become frightened when they began the procedure and encountered a white, milky substance that was an immediate call for concern — fortunately, they learned it was nothing serious after sending it out to be cultured.

“Katina’s abdominal wall looks like a bomb has gone off in it, and that’s due to all the previous infection, and skin and soft tissue death and surgical incision of that, that was required,” Dr. Dubrow explained.

After a successful operation, Katina is thrilled to walk out with not only a new belly button (hers had been a casualty of her previous medical issues), but also a new attitude.

“Before the surgery with Dr. Dubrow, I couldn’t picture myself being confident in a bikini, ever,” she said. “But now I can wear anything I want to wear… This is the proof [of my hard work] and I can’t wait to show it off today.”
