After being arrested for his fourth DUI on September 25, Kiefer Sutherland has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor drunk-driving yesterday. As part of his deal, Kiefer agreed to serve 30 days for driving while under the influence and 18 days for violating his probation for a 2004 drunken driving case. He also has to enroll in an 18-month alcohol-education class and attend weekly alcohol-therapy sessions for six months. Kiefer starts serving his jail sentence on December 21, when his show, 24, goes on winter hiatus. "I'm very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently," he said in a statement, "and I'm deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on 24 and at 20th Century Fox."
