In the past week, it seems like all of Hollywood has turned against Harvey Weinstein after more than 20 women came forward to share their horrific tales of alleged sexual abuse by the media mogul. Of these women — both famous and not — one of the most outspoken has been Charmed actress Rose McGowan, who received a $100,000 settlement from the 65-year-old after an “episode in a hotel room.” In what may be her most shocking allegation of all, she accused the former head of The Weinstein Company of raping her.

Her accusation came in a series of tweets, during which she called out Amazon founder Jeff Bezos for collaborating with the man who reportedly assaulted her (The Weinstein Company and Amazon Studios were partnering for a streaming TV series). “I told the head of your studio that [Weinstein] raped me. Over and over I said it. He said it hadn’t been proven. I said I was the proof,” she tweeted. “I had already sold a script I wrote to your studio, it was in development. When I heard a Weinstein bailout was in the works I forcefully begged [your] studio head to do the right thing. I was ignored. Deal was done. Amazon won a dirty Oscar. I called my attorney and said I want to get my script back, but before I could, Amazon called to say my show was dead. I am calling on you to stop funding rapists, alleged pedos, and sexual harassers. I love Amazon but there is rot in Hollywood. Be the change you want to see in the world. Stand with truth.”

After her tweets, her Twitter account was briefly shut down — causing an uproar among the countless people who are supporting her, and speaking out against Weinstein and Amazon — but they explained it wasn’t because of her accusation, rather it was because she violated their Terms of Service by tweeting a private phone number. They explained, “Twitter is proud to empower and support the voices of our platform, especially those that speak truth to power. We stand with the brave men and women who use Twitter to share their stories, and will work hard every day to improve our processes to protect those voices.” Additionally, Amazon parted ways with their studio head.

Rose, 44, has always been an outspoken critic of the problems in Hollywood. Last year, she tweeted about being sexually assault by a “studio head,” but neglected to name names.

What was Rose McGowan’s childhood like?

Saying Rose had an unconventional childhood would be an understatement; her father ran an Italian chapter of Children of God, which many consider to be a cult. She, her parents, and her five siblings lived in a commune, and spent a lot of her childhood traveling. She was only 15 years old when she legally emancipated herself from her parents, and she moved to LA shortly thereafter. She started working as an actress to help support her younger siblings and put them through school.

What is Rose McGowan most famous for?

Rose’s claim to fame is definitely her role as Paige on Charmed, which she joined in the show’s fourth season, as well as her role in the dark comedy Jawbreaker. Off-screen, she is also known for her high profile relationship with Marilyn Manson.

Why did her look change so much?

Rose’s looks have long been critiqued by the public, especially after she seemingly had considerable plastic surgery in the mid-2000s. However, Rose has been vocal that her changed look is the result of a serious car accident, during which she was wearing glasses, which injured her face. She has long been vocal against those who aren’t supportive of the reconstructive surgery.
