Happy birthday, Brittany Murphy!

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost five years since the “Clueless” beauty tragically died way too soon at the age of 32. Since she was pronounced dead of “natural causes” in December 2009, a lot has come to light about her mysterious and heartbreaking death.

In February 2010, her death was ruled accidental — with pneumonia and anemia, exacerbated by the mixture of over-the-counter cold medications, listed as the cause of her death. But when her husband, Simon Monjack, was found dead of the same cause five months after she passed, some suspicions were raised.

Brittany’s estranged father, Angelo Bertoletti, has reportedly been eager for his daughter’s body to be exhumed after a private toxicology report detected several heavy metals (which are found in most rat poisons) in his late daughter’s blood, hair and tissue samples.

On the other hand, her mother, Sharon, has some thoughts of her own. She has come to learn “toxic mold” discovered in the home may have played a part in the deaths of the “8 Mile” actress and her husband.

Since Brittany’s father came forward with his concerns, several theories about the star’s death have surfaced. One pathologist, named Richard Shepherd, voiced his professional opinion that Brittany could have been saved — had an ambulance been called earlier.

Additionally, Angelo has come forward and accused Sharon of playing a part in their daughter’s death, saying, “Sharon Murphy should be interviewed and investigated, first and foremost. Let her explain why she had my daughter execute a will, leaving everything to her mother and specifically excluding Simon.”

However, we think Sharon said it best when she said, “We will never know for sure.”

She continued, “However, we do know the Los Angeles County Coroner did extensive tests and found that she died of natural causes. And now she is a real living angel in heaven.”

Rest in peace, Brittany. Happy birthday.
