Anna Kendrick may have just jumped to the top of the list of actresses vying to play Ariel in the recently announced remake of The Little Mermaid.

While hosting NBC's SNL, the 28-year-old actress dressed up as the famous red-headed Disney character wearing a purple-shelled bra and sparkling green fins.

Joining her were Ariel’s best friends, Flounder (played by Bobby Moynihan) and Sebastian (played by Jay Pharoah).

As the storyline goes, in order for Ariel to become human, she must give her voice to Ursula (played by Aidy Bryant) in exchange.

And what came out of Anna’s mouth next was totally unexpected! She started singing Kesha’s “We R Who We R” before noting “it’s how the humans are singing now.”

Afterwards, she sings Britney Spears’ “Womanizer” shocking Ursula, who hilariously responded, “That is not a voice, that was a baby having sex. I live in the ocean, but even I know that if you’re going to do Britney, you do ‘Toxic’.”

Other songs the Pitch Perfect star sings includes Selena Gomez’s “Come & Get It” and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy”.

While this may have been a funny skit for the live comedy show, it also might have been a mini audition for Sofia Coppola. Last month Deadline reported The Bling Ring director is in talks to direct a live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
