Six months after Teen Mom 2’s Leah Messer-Calvert learned her daughter Ali would spend much of her life confined to a wheelchair, Leah exclusively reveals to In Touch that Ali is defying all odds!

“Ali is running,” she shares with In Touch, on newsstands now. In fact, her daughter, who was diagnosed with a rare — and incurable — form of muscular dystrophy, is stronger than ever. “She has so much determination,” says Leah. “We’re in awe of how she handles adversity."

Despite the progress, Leah knows it will be one step at a time. “She’s doing so much better than expected. We don’t know what the future holds, but this is proof that we should never give up hope,” she explains to In Touch.

And with an outpouring of love and support from fans, she’s inspired to never give up on Ali. “One girl who reached out to me also suffers from muscular dystrophy,” she reveals. “It made my hope for Ali so much more realistic.”
