Unless you don’t have a heart, the epic falling out between rappers JAY-Z and Kanye West has been weighing heavy on your mind. But what exactly did Kanye say about Beyoncé that set Hova off in the first place? We’ve gone back to help uncover the root of this heartbreaking feud.

Recently, Jay revealed that what really got to him was the fact that Yeezy called out his wife. He opened up on the Rap Radar podcast on Aug. 18. “What really hurt me was, you can’t bring my kid or my wife into it,” he said. “Kanye’s my little brother. He’s talked about me 100 times. He made a song called ‘Big Brother.’ We’ve gotten past bigger issues. But you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem with me. That’s a real, real problem. And he knows it’s a problem.”

EXCLUSIVE: JAY-Z and Beyoncé Refuse to Work With Anyone Who Works With Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

Back in November of last year while on tour for his album The Life of Pablo, Pablo himself, aka Kanye, went on an epic rant railing his former bestie. It was during this rant at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA, that Ye dissed Bey. He accused the mother-of-three of refusing to perform with him at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards unless her video for “Formation” took home the award that night for Video of the Year.

“Beyoncé, I was hurt cause I heard that you said you wouldn’t perform unless you won Video of the Year over me and over ‘Hotline Bling,'” Kanye said to the stadium. He then called out the “Single Ladies” songstress for being fake.

“We are all great people,” Kanye said of Beyoncé, himself, and famous nemesis Taylor Swift.  “We are all equal. But sometimes, we be playing the politics too much and forgetting who we are just to win. F–k winning! F–k looking cool! F–k looking cool! F–k being cool! F–k all that!”

He then called out his Watch the Throne collaborator for not being there for him. “I’ve been sitting here to give ya’ll my truth even at the risk of my own life. Even at the risk of my own success, my own career. I’ve been sitting here to give ya’ll the truth!” he said. “Jay Z, call me, bro! You still ain’t calling me. Jay Z, call me…Jay Z, I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head. Just call me. Talk to me like a man!”

And while we’re all hoping the duo works things out, as In Touch previously revealed, things don’t seem to be getting better. “They will never speak again,” an insider said. “It’s over.”
