Our thoughts are with Aaron Carter. Cops reportedly rushed to the scene at the 29-year-old pop star’s home on Thursday, Sept. 21, after receiving a report that he appeared to be under the influence of an undisclosed substance. According to TMZ, law enforcement got a call from a friend who had been on the phone with Aaron when they felt something was off with the “Fool’s Gold” singer.

A source told TMZ that a neighbor went to check on Aaron, but they received no answer when they knocked on his door. Police eventually arrived at the former child star’s residence at around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, and he answered the door for responding officers. An eyewitness told TMZ that Aaron appeared to be “fine,” though there is no word yet on whether he was indeed under the influence.

Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Aaron’s friends and family have been worried about him because they believe he is on the verge of a mental breakdown. According to the site, a concerned family member called the police and said that Aaron was threatening to take Xanax and Klonopin, and has been talking about suicide for months.

Sources also told the site that his family was worried that he is relapsing by inhaling the areosol spray used to clean keyboards, which sent him to rehab back in 2011. However, Aaron clapped back at relapse rumors during a recent visit to NYC. “I’m doing just great, thank you. I only speak to my mother, and my mother and I are just fine,” he told TMZ. “There’s no need for any of that or any of those questions because it’s all false allegations and I’m gonna leave it at that.”

Aaron tested negative for cocaine and meth but did test positive for prescription pills on a recent episode of The Doctors — and explained that he is making an effort to stop because he doesn’t want to end up like his late sister Leslie, who passed away in 2012 due to a lethal combination of medications.

“I find myself getting them off of the streets, just to get them… My family knows, before I did the show The Doctors, they knew that I was taking Xanax and stuff like that and that I was going to actual psychiatrists to do that,” Aaron explained. “I know that there is no happy ending to any of those medications.”
