Golden boy Michael Phelps is back on top, reminding everyone that he came to London to win.
The 27-year-old and his U.S. teammate Ryan Lochte, 27, went head-to-head today in one of the most highly anticipated showdowns of this year’s Olympic games – the 200-meter Individual Medley.
Michael came into the event as the previous champion — winning gold at both the 2004 and 2008 Olympics — however, some questioned the swimming legend's ability after failing to perform with the same rate of success that he’s had in games past.
Ultimately it was Michael who out-swam Ryan with a winning time of 1:54.27, defending his title and bringing home his 20th Olympic medal. Ryan came in second with a time of 1:54.9.
This past weekend, Michael made history, winning his 19th Olympic medal — becoming the most decorated athlete in Olympics history.
