Michael Strahan has been named Kelly Ripa's new co-host.

After months of speculation, Kelly Ripa finally has announced that Michael Strahan will be joining her as the permanent co-host of Live! With Kelly.
"It's time for a new era of our show to begin," Kelly, 41, said this morning on the show. "It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you the newest member of our Live! family, Michael Strahan!"
Later in the program, the former Giants defensive end expressed his excitement over the new position, which was left vacant last fall by Regis Philbin, who left the hit show after 28 years.
"I adore you, and I am so happy to be here and be a part of this," Michael, 40, told Kelly. "You know how they say it's a dream come true? I truly can't say that because I didn't even know I could dream this."
