Jeff Lewis is more than just an interior designer extraordinaire – he’s a therapist to the stars!
On Tuesday night’s episode of Interior Therapy With Jeff Lewis, Bravo’s cameras gave you a first look at the drama that ultimately caused TV star Jillian Barberie Reynolds to file for divorce from her husband of seven years, Grant Reynolds.
As the couple butted heads in a series of arguments, Jeff stepped in to create some peace among the couple as they tackled the task of redecorating their California home – before things got out of hand.
Although he gave it his best shot, Jeff couldn’t keep the couple’s clashing under control. Their issues ultimately boiled down to one problem: Grant felt suffocated by "the Jillian show."
Jillian, who recently quit her gig at Fox News, had trouble adjusting to her new role as a stay-at-home mom, handing over her title as the family breadwinner to then-husband, Grant.
"There’s times when I don’t think she realizes how much I do for this family," Grant complained of Jillian. “It’s tough to find that balance in our roles of the house.”
Jeff gently reminds Jillian that she has been on TV five days a week for twenty years, which causes others to give her special treatment.
When Jeff suggests that she expects this special treatment from her husband, Jillian immediately refutes his claims, while Grant told Jeff, “I think you’re nailing it right now.”
Jillian felt hurt and told Jeff, “I don’t expect (Grant) to be super nice to me. I just want him to be regular nice to me.”
Not even Jeff felt like their marriage was salvageable. In fact, he was one of the first to realize they weren’t meant to be.
Jeff is unsure. “I think Grant and Jillian have a very difficult time relating to each other because Grant leads a very different life than Jillian,” he shares. “And I think that she’s terrified of this role reversal.”
